From the 17th May we can accept up to six guests or two households. Full details can be found on the government website All being well, all restrictions will be lifted in June 21st - fingers crossed! With confusion over travel rules, expensive PCR tests and the risk of quarantine, there has never been a better time to book a UK holiday!

The cancellation cover we had negotiated with Master Cancel has sadly been discontinued - inevitable really as they were inundated with claims over the past few months. Anyone who placed a booking between 24th June 2020 and 5th January 2021 is still covered by the policy and Master Cancel have been very prompt at paying claims.
For new bookings we strongly recommend taking out suitable holiday cover, just as you would with any other holiday. Many insurer's are now including Covid cancellation terms. Some examples are Trail Finders , Stay Sure , the Post Office and CoverWise and there are plenty of others. It obviously pays to have a good understanding of what is covered before purchasing and guests need to make their own decisions. We are not selling, promoting, endorsing or recommending any particular product, and do not benefit financially from, nor have any formal relationship with, any of these providers. We always try and be as flexible as possible but if you are ill with Covid (or any other illness) when you are due to visit South Wing, then our advise is stay at home and talk to your insurer. If you fall ill with Covid whilst at South Wing, our advise is to head home and contact your insurer. We have recently updated our terms and conditions to accommodate these changes and please do not hesitate to contact Andrew on 0773 089 8802 or [email protected] if you have any questions. Earlier this year we invested in a new insurance policy that allowed us to provide 100% cancellation cover, even for Covid-19 related cancellation events. As you can imagine, the providers have been pretty busy and have paid out on claims totaling many millions of pounds. All good things come to an end and they have understandably decided that they can no longer afford to offer cover to new bookings beyond January 5th 2021.
Any booking made before this date WILL be covered no matter how far in to the future it is for. So if you are interested in booking a holiday at South Wing and want the peace of mind that cancellation cover offers, there's never been a better time to book We will always try and offer the best advice on the current Covid-19 situation when making your booking. However, at the end of the day we all have a responsibility, as described in this post from the department of culture, media and sport.
"While Businesses should take reasonable steps to ensure that customers are complying with the law on things like the Rule of Six and going on holiday with other households, the legal responsibility for compliance is with the customer and not the business." Click here for up to date government advice on law and guidance on Covid-19 The Rule of 6 law currently has no expiry date meaning that we cannot accept any new bookings for groups that fall outside of that law. In simple terms this means
1. Guests can stay as six individuals from six households currently, but must socially distance 2. It is possible for us to accept a booking for more than six if they all live together permanently under one roof = 'One Household' 3. It is possible to accept a booking for a 'Household Bubble'. A 'Household Bubble' is a household as in 2 above, plus one adult that lives permanently alone, and has formed a permanent bubble with the 'Household'. Small group discounts available during 'rule of 6' restrictions - please call / WhatsApp Andrew on
0773 089 8802 or email [email protected] The new government guidelines limiting gatherings to six people come into effect next week. Whilst South Wing is a large house, it is still cosy enough for smaller groups to enjoy. If you have a smaller group looking for very comfortable, beautiful holiday accommodation please do not hesitate to contact me
We obviously hope and expect that you will have a great stay at South Wing. If you are unfortunate enough to fall ill we ask that you follow the following UK Hospitality guidelines, if a guest presents themselves with symptoms or Covid-19 or is asymptomatic but declares the need to self-isolate, they
should check out and return home to self-isolate according to current government guidance. If the guest has acute symptoms, has breathing difficulties, or their life is at potential risk, seek medical help immediately. We have placed NHS posters around the house that provide help on the steps to take to access medical help, the numbers to call and the address of South Wing. “We’re Good To Go” is the official UK mark to signal that a tourism and hospitality business has worked hard to follow Government and industry COVID-19 guidelines and has a process in place to maintain cleanliness and aid social distancing. We are proud to announce that South Wing is officially 'good to go!'
We have updated our cleaning regime inline with COVID-19 cleaning protocols that have been prepared for self-catering and short-term let properties by the Professional Association of Self-Caterers UK. We have a great cleaning team who always leave the house sparkling prior to each visit and our welcome pack will now include hand sanitiser, gloves and masks to ensure you have some back-up to your own equipment.
We will be monitoring government advice and applying that to our management of South Wing. I am sure you will have a great time in this lovely house and stunning local area. |
AuthorI have owned and let South Wing since early 2008. My family and I are also regular visitors and love the house and local area where we have many friends and family members. We've hosted more than 500 groups with many returning year after year and we look forward to seeing you at South Wing soon! Andrew Wyborn, owner. Archives
